K-Fed Was Hungry

The New Improved Kevin Federline

"Democracy"

"Democracy will not come
Today, this year
Nor ever
Through compromise and fear.

I have as much right
As the other fellow has
To stand
On my two feet
And own the land.

I tire so of hearing people say,
Let things take their course.
Tomorrow is another day.
I do not need my freedom when I'm dead.
I cannot live on tomorrow's bread.

Freedom
Is a strong seed
Planted
In a great need.

I live here, too.
I want freedom
Just as you."

Black In America 2

So I just finished tuning into CNN's sequel to their informative look on what it really means to be Black In America. Some say the sequel is never as good as the original, but I must say that this new series of Black In America is very thought provoking and aggressive in a really good way.

Taking a look at the leaders of tomorrow through the eyes of young people today is truly meaningful to me because I myself am at that point in my life where everyone is watching and waiting to see what I do next. Pressure, yes of course, but life is flowing with great amounts of pressure that only makes it better. I am the future. I can say that confidently because I know that I have a plan for my life. Many people today are moving too quickly, but going nowhere at all. Life is a long journey that has many different paths with no shortcuts.

Going back to thought provoking ideas, being Black In America is something extraordinary. It's something that cannot be fully expressed in words. Dual Consciousness is something that often pops into my mind. Am I Black or some sort of person who understands both sides? Black is Beautiful. Black Is Everything. Black Is Me. Stereotypes and Misrepresentation are for another blog post.

One addition I saw in the program was the inclusion of a new series entitled LATINO IN AMERICA coming in October. This is good because America is a melting pot of unique people who have similar goals and dreams in life.

Tomorrow is the continuation of Black In America 2 w/ Tyler Perry talking about his experience in Hollywood along with many other motivated Black people who strive to make the world a better place one person at a time.

BLACK IN AMERICA
Peace!

Santa Clara Orientation Recap

July 16th-17th 2009, Santa Clara University (3rd Orientation Session)

Left on Wednesday the 15th, 6 1/2 hour drive from my house to Santa Clara. This was probably my 10th time traveling up to Northern Cali, so nothing surprising.

Fast Forward to Thursday...

7:30 am - Arrived on Campus for the second time in two years. Registration was cool. People watching is always a fun hobby of mine. So many different & exciting people. Breakfast on St. Ignatius Lawn (JESUITS IN DA HOUSE)!!! Speeches came later from the school's reprsentatives and faculty members.

Then came the big moment... Finding out who else was in my RLC (Residence Learning Community); I'm In Xavier (only the greatest, X Gonna Give It 2 Ya!!!)

The people in my RLC are great. So many different personalities and most importantly the diversity is awesome. Easy going and down to earth are some of the words I would use to describe the people in my group.

So as I move on through my memory, our Orientation Leaders (OL's) were nothing short of great. Funny, enthusiastic, down to earth, and real... do I need to continue. They forced us to add them on Facebook hahah, but it's all good they're cool.

As the first day progressed, we had dinner and the SOCIAL was at 8pm. The OL's performed their own dance routine. The rest of the night was pretty chill. Played pool with some new friends and just had good times.

Day 2: Registration Day

So this part of orientation was strictly for class registration.

I didn't get all the classes I had wanted to get in the first place, but I came through with some pretty legit classes nonetheless.

Class schedule for the Fall is as Follows: Political Science Major

Art History: MWF 11:45pm-12:50pm
Intermediate Latin: MWF 1:00pm-2:05pm
Knowing That We Don't Know: TTh 9:55am-11:40am
Intro to US Politics: TTh 1:45pm-3:30pm

Closing ceremonies was bittersweet since we don't start school until September 21st.

But I can't wait to go back. College is HERE!!! Great People Good Times!

The Wackness Review

So this past week I had the chance to finally see THE WACKNESS. Well Done Film about Life, Traveling on the Journey of becoming an Adult, and embracing what you know or think you know best. It centers around a weed dealer who is 18-19yrs old and ready to go off to college. The story takes place in the summer of '94. It's a love story mixed with grimy reality and a lot of growing up. Hip-Hop is a big part of the film; even Method Man is in the movie!! I obviously recommend that you take the chance to see it.

Stars: Ben Kingsley (Ghandi), Josh Peck (Drake & Josh/ Nickelodeon), Famke Janssen (Jean Gray/ X-Men)

Grade: A-

"Love, Do We Really Know the Meaning Cuz We Always Fuss & Fight"

I know I'm not the only one thinking about what the future holds or where I'll be in the next years of my life.

Sometimes I just want to fast forward and skip the boring unnecessary parts of life. Lazy days with nothing to do aren't really fun.

Waiting forever to move on to big and better things seems like it will never end, but does it really make a difference.

Life is too damn short for bitchin' and whining about the small things

Timeless

Sometimes I feel as though I was born in the wrong decade.
No anger or animosity towards the Golden Age Known as November 1990
But some sort of curiosity for that which came before
Back when Pimps & Whores Were Prime Exploits for Film Culture
And when Vietnam was serving up more good mournings than America
But this Broadcast is way before Comcast
Back when standing up for something actually meant something
And watching 3 or 4 Bruce Lee Kung Fu Movies In the Same Day at the Same Theater With A Side of Popcorn and Drink For the Low Low Price of Being Less Than 10 Bucks Was Cool... But times have changed

When swagger no longer means being dapper, but instead the all time worst rapper actor people have ever heard or seen
So turn my swag off because it kills dreams
And adds nothing positive to my world changing prerogative

Is that why I have such a Timeless Obsession with the past
Nothing Today Seems to Be Perpetual or Last
Because Originality Has Fallen Victim to the Many a Common Fallacy
Practically Desecrating Greatness with Obscene Craziness

But just sit back and imagine a different time separate from what the present is or what the future may hold.
