To most, today is just another day. For me, however, this is my last day as an 18 year old. Growing older in a lot of ways is an enriching experience. I happily embrace the age that I am. Every year brings about a new group of challenges, people, relationships, places, etc.

19 years, kinda hard to believe that I've been here for that long. Time Flies doesn't it. Even though it's hard to remember in detail, I try to look back at the days when I was a young child unaware of my future. From elementary to middle school, high school to College...the journey continues

So I've been pretty busy lately and haven't been able to write about what's been going on. School is going great. Week 5 has just ended!!

I'm really starting to miss home. I've been away from home for a month and a week already. Most people in my dorm and the rest of the school are going home this weekend. I never thought I would miss my family so much. Thanksgiving seems so far away. Halloween is next Saturday...we'll see what happens then!

Life Comes At You Fast

I can't believe I'm going into my fourth week of being a college student. Yesterday was Friday and I must say that it was one of the best Fridays I lived thus far. The experiences I've had, the people I've met, and the places I've traveled to so far have been amazing. Class was ok, but the nightlife activity yesterday was insane. A couple friends and I decided to go to In-N-Out (my second time since I started school). Good Times with cool people.

We came back and the night was still young, so I just went around hanging out with anyone else who was in my dorm. My roommate Ben and I also went to my boy Ezequiel's residence hall for a talent show. EZ performed and evoked the spirit of a true Blue Scholars fan with a couple verses. DOPE SHITT!!!

Still not tired even as the night began to touch midnight, I went down to my friend Janelle's room and played Lego Star Wars/Scene It with her and her roommate Nicole.

As the adrenaline continued to run through my body, I went up to chill with my third floor crew consisting of Grace, Dimitri, Avery, Nicky, Janelle, and Federico. We decided to head over to the Bronco, which for those who don't know is Santa Clara's late night hangout spot with fried food. MOZARELLA STICKS!!!

Lots of drunk people were there as well. Not my type of crowd, but that's colllege for you hahaha.


Around this time, the clock was hitting 1;30 - 2am in the morning and I was still going strong. So Janelle and I came back to my room and were watching Watchmen for a while until some other people came back up.

Around 3am, I went to my floor's common room and saw my friend Izzie (short for Elizabeth). She is really legit and down to earth. We started talking for a while just about anything and everything. She's smart and really cute (two things I like in my women haha)!! Turns out she and I have the same major (Political Science) which is even more legit!!! We talked until like 4:15am and then we both headed back.

End to A Great Friday Night!



Today, Saturday October 10th, a chill day with a trip to downtown San Jose to see Michael's Moore "Capitalism: A Love Story".

End to the 1st Week

Well, I"ve made it through my first week of being a college student. Things are looking very promising. So many different things to do and people to meet.

Homework is alright, but classes are still legit.

A New Chapter

I've had my first successful night as a college student. Move in day, meeting my roommate and everyone else has been an adventure. Before I left home, I made a poundcake to use as an icebreaker between me and my fellow Xavier Residence Hall Members.

The poundcake was a huge hit! All the girls on my floor were thoroughly impressed with my ability to cook and this one girl wants to challenge me in a cook off. We'll see how that goes hahaha!

Everyone is really nice, respectful and very helpful. LOTS OF BEAUTIFUL GIRLS ON MY FLOOR, HOLY SHITTT!!! My roommate and I are probably the only guys on our wing of the residence hall. All the rooms around us are filled with girls from far and wide.

I think I'm the only Black person on my floor as well.

I don't think I could have asked for a better roommate. He's from Indiana and likes HIP-HOP!! He listens to Blue Scholars, Lupe Fiasco, Kid Cudi, Common, Jay-Z, etc. He's a chill guy.

KID CUDI is also performing here at Santa Clara next Saturday, shit will be INSANE!! I'll take video and pictures.

So I just finished tuning into CNN's sequel to their informative look on what it really means to be Black In America. Some say the sequel is never as good as the original, but I must say that this new series of Black In America is very thought provoking and aggressive in a really good way.

Taking a look at the leaders of tomorrow through the eyes of young people today is truly meaningful to me because I myself am at that point in my life where everyone is watching and waiting to see what I do next. Pressure, yes of course, but life is flowing with great amounts of pressure that only makes it better. I am the future. I can say that confidently because I know that I have a plan for my life. Many people today are moving too quickly, but going nowhere at all. Life is a long journey that has many different paths with no shortcuts.

Going back to thought provoking ideas, being Black In America is something extraordinary. It's something that cannot be fully expressed in words. Dual Consciousness is something that often pops into my mind. Am I Black or some sort of person who understands both sides? Black is Beautiful. Black Is Everything. Black Is Me. Stereotypes and Misrepresentation are for another blog post.

One addition I saw in the program was the inclusion of a new series entitled LATINO IN AMERICA coming in October. This is good because America is a melting pot of unique people who have similar goals and dreams in life.

Tomorrow is the continuation of Black In America 2 w/ Tyler Perry talking about his experience in Hollywood along with many other motivated Black people who strive to make the world a better place one person at a time.

Santa Clara Orientation Recap

July 16th-17th 2009, Santa Clara University (3rd Orientation Session)

Left on Wednesday the 15th, 6 1/2 hour drive from my house to Santa Clara. This was probably my 10th time traveling up to Northern Cali, so nothing surprising.

Fast Forward to Thursday...

7:30 am - Arrived on Campus for the second time in two years. Registration was cool. People watching is always a fun hobby of mine. So many different & exciting people. Breakfast on St. Ignatius Lawn (JESUITS IN DA HOUSE)!!! Speeches came later from the school's reprsentatives and faculty members.

Then came the big moment... Finding out who else was in my RLC (Residence Learning Community); I'm In Xavier (only the greatest, X Gonna Give It 2 Ya!!!)

The people in my RLC are great. So many different personalities and most importantly the diversity is awesome. Easy going and down to earth are some of the words I would use to describe the people in my group.

So as I move on through my memory, our Orientation Leaders (OL's) were nothing short of great. Funny, enthusiastic, down to earth, and real... do I need to continue. They forced us to add them on Facebook hahah, but it's all good they're cool.

As the first day progressed, we had dinner and the SOCIAL was at 8pm. The OL's performed their own dance routine. The rest of the night was pretty chill. Played pool with some new friends and just had good times.

Day 2: Registration Day

So this part of orientation was strictly for class registration.

I didn't get all the classes I had wanted to get in the first place, but I came through with some pretty legit classes nonetheless.

Intermediate Latin: MWF 1:00pm-2:05pm
Knowing That We Don't Know: TTh 9:55am-11:40am

Closing ceremonies was bittersweet since we don't start school until September 21st.

But I can't wait to go back. College is HERE!!! Great People Good Times!

So this past week I had the chance to finally see THE WACKNESS. Well Done Film about Life, Traveling on the Journey of becoming an Adult, and embracing what you know or think you know best. It centers around a weed dealer who is 18-19yrs old and ready to go off to college. The story takes place in the summer of '94. It's a love story mixed with grimy reality and a lot of growing up. Hip-Hop is a big part of the film; even Method Man is in the movie!! I obviously recommend that you take the chance to see it.

I'm here on my last day of "High School Classes" looking back at my four years at the world's best damn High School.

So much has changed since I was a freshmen back in 2005. I am (gladly) not the same person I was back in 8th grade on my way to high school.

My past last few weeks of high school have been nothing short of greatness. Details for Blogger would do nothing but ruin the memories, so I'll spare you the time of reading.

But now it is June 1st and I'm 6days away and counting from being a high school graduate. Summer is looking very promising. Much to do in a 3 1/2 month period of break before school starts in September. There is money that needs to be made and paid. Friends that need to be kept and made the best til the end.

Can't wait til I graduate though so that I can reconnect with friends and family I have not seen in a long time.

What We All Want

Sometimes I can't believe how close I am to graduating from High School. It's kind of scary because the High School Class of '09 is about to go to a place we have never been before. Yeah I know it sounds a little Star Trekkie, but who cares because we all have our own unique nerd moments.

High School has treated me well. I have a diverse group of friends that I am glad to call my family. I have had "interesting" and very dedicated teachers over my four years. But as we continue on our separate paths, I will never forget the good times we all shared.

College is upon us! My summer is really up in the air right now with nothing to do. I've applied to so many places for a job, but no one has called me back yet. I want a job because the Pound Cake Run in High School is coming to a close. The economy is really screwing things up for people trying to find work and other ways of surviving day to day.

If you don't know already, I will be attending Santa Clara University in the fall. I'm really looking forward to attending and getting out of LA. So many new people to meet, I'm ecstatic haha.

But I'm really going to miss Loyola and the extended family I have; you know who you are!!

So like most people, I did the stupid thing of seeing the movie before reading the comic book. I didn't understand the movie, but after starting now with the comic book I have a greater appreciation for what Watchmen is.


Word of advice, read the book before diving in to see the movie, it is much better.

Back From Hiatus...Maybe

The Past Few Days, maybe even weeks now I have honestly been feeling indifferent about school and the social life. I hate saying and hearing about going through the motions, but I feel as if that describes how i am traveling on the journey right now. Certain people I just don't want to talk to at all, I don't have any beef; I just don't feel like talking is all.

There is just so much shit to do in so little time!

I am frustrated, mellow, sometimes pissed at small things, tired...mostly tired though.

3 months til graduation seem like forever

High School's been interesting and fun, but I want to move on to bigger and better things now!!

Who knows what the future may hold, but one thing for sure is that these college letters are coming in like nobody's business

6 weeks off from concentrated learning AKA "SKOOL" never seemed so good until today when I was sitting in AP Physics B.

School is back in full force as I and '09ers alike enter our 8th/Final semester of High School/College.

Although I don't want to physically be back at school, I'm glad to go back mentally and catch up with the crew and others.

Went to the Blu & Exile/Wale/U-N-I concert last night

Very good show, overcrowded though.

Didn't stay to see Wale, don't really know that much about him.

Had an interesting time talking with some artists and DJ's outside. Gomez Warren the IV is a well spoken cat we met who has a very diverse opinion that was extremely appealing

Saturday Nights w/ the Fam

Last night was a very chill night.

Contemplating where we should eat, the fam and I head out looking for a restaurant we hadn't been to yet.

Driving around, we stop at Hof's Hut first( what I like to call the OLD PEOPLE's restaurant), but I convince the family that we should go somewhere that is a little more lively and exuberant.

We then head of to FRIDAY'S (a better choice)

After we had our dinner, we ordered dessert but I was indecisive about what to get. Then the waitress started giving me "THE EYE", put her hand on my back and started flirting with me, no lie! I mean she was looking at me like she wanted to do something naughty. Of course, I didn't mind, she was cute. It must have been my fresh new haircut, classy hat I wear, and manners that got her.

After we left, we headed back home and cracked jokes all the way back. Good night with amazing people.

The kids and I have bonded really well.

I'm really tired from all the playing, but I'm looking forward to the coming weeks.
